Toronto, Richmond Hill, North York –  Uncover the New and Improved You Through Body Contouring

Dr. Sean Brian Rice, whose office serves the greater North York, Toronto, and Richmond Hill area, offers body contouring options to patients that can produce the healthy, trim, and fit looks that they have been seeking. Patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery or some other type of bariatric surgery and lost substantial amounts of weight may find that skin that was stretched out by the presence of fat may be left loose and sagging all over the body, particularly around the abdomen, legs, and upper arms. As a result, they may need comprehensive cosmetic procedures to lift, tone, and reshape their bodies.

Circumferential Body Lift

Circumferential body lift, also called a lower body lift, is a comprehensive body contouring procedure designed to reshape the bodies of patients who have lost substantial amounts of weight, typically through bariatric or gastric bypass surgery. Unlike tummy tuck, breast lift, or similar procedures designed to rejuvenate and tone one specific area of the body, a circumferential body lift targets most of the lower body, tightening and toning the waistline, hips, outer thighs, and buttocks.

Circumferential Body Lift Procedure

In a circumferential body lift, the surgeon makes a long incision that encircles the entire midsection of the patient around the waistline. Excess fat and skin are removed using liposuction, muscle tissues are tightened, and then the skin from the thighs and buttocks is lifted upward and reattached to the upper torso. The surgery generally takes between three and five hours to complete, depending on the condition of the patient and other factors. Patients throughout the North York, Toronto, and Richmond Hill area find that body contouring by Dr. Sean Brian Rice gives them a dramatically slimmer, more toned, and attractive appearance, with skin that better fits the contours of their new bodies.

Circumferential Body Lift Recovery

Because a circumferential body lift requires the removal and relocation of considerably more fat, skin, and tissue than body procedures that target specific areas of the body, recovery from the surgery is generally longer and more involved. Circumferential body lift patients will typically need to stay in the hospital for two to four nights after the procedure. Swelling and bruising are to be expected, although pain medication can ease any discomfort. Drainage tubes will remain in place for several days after the surgery to keep the surgical incision clean and free of infection and fluids. Patients can expect to resume most work and normal daily activities within two to four weeks of the surgery, although physically demanding work, exercise, and other vigorous activities should be avoided until your surgeon approves.
