BOTOX® Cosmetic
Dr. Sean Brian Rice offers BOTOX® Cosmetic to patients at his office serving the Toronto and North York areas. BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the most popular injectable treatments available and is commonly used to reduce the prominence of facial lines and wrinkles, creating a younger, healthier, and more refreshed look. BOTOX® Cosmetic is made from a form of botulinum toxin type A, which can be deadly in its pure state, but is sufficiently diluted to be safe for use in patients. BOTOX® injections work by temporarily blocking the movement of some facial muscles. Over time, the movement of these muscles can lead to the development of “crow’s feet” wrinkles around the eyes and deep creases in the forehead and around the nose.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is easily injected and produces immediate results, visible within a few days, leaving minimal swelling and redness, making it a popular choice for patients who hold “BOTOX® parties” or receive treatments over a lunch hour before returning to work. Patients who want to refresh their facial appearance but do not want to have a facelift, a browlift, or other cosmetic surgery often choose to have BOTOX® treatments instead.

Restylane® and Juvéderm™
People looking to plump up their lips or reduce the appearance of deep folds in the skin from the base of their nose to the corners of their mouth often turn to Restylane® or Juvéderm™. Serving the North York and Toronto area, Dr. Sean Brian Rice achieves amazing results for his patients by using Restylane® or Juvéderm™ to create a more youthful, refreshed, and attractive appearance.
Restylane® and Juvéderm™ are two brands of cosmetic filler that dramatically increases skin volume by using hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, to trap moisture inside the skin. As a result, skin stays firmer, fuller, and rounder for up to six months after a treatment. Multiple treatments can ensure that the same natural-looking results are maintained for longer periods of time.
Restylane® and Juvéderm™ contain no animal proteins, which limits the risk of contracting animal-based diseases and experiencing allergic reactions. In addition, the products have never been tested on animals. Possible side effects include mild discomfort, redness, swelling and bruising at the injection points. Sculptra®
Dr. Sean Brian Rice administers Sculptra® treatments at his office in Toronto to patients who are looking to achieve many different results. Sculptra® is an injectable filler that has proven to be especially effective at treating facial wrinkles, creases, and fine lines. The product, which has been called a "facelift in a bottle," is also widely used to treat lipoatrophy, or facial wasting, a medical condition that can occur in some AIDS and HIV patients and that is marked by the dramatic loss of facial fat and tissue.
Sculptra® is injected into the skin using a thin needle and promotes the growth of new collagen to create a fuller, healthier, and younger appearance. A typical treatment lasts about 30 minutes, but the visible effects may not be noticeable for four to six weeks. Sculptra® is made entirely of synthetic materials, including polylactic acid, which has been used for more than 20 years in surgical products. Therefore, there is minimal threat of adverse allergic reactions to treatment with the product.
Sculptra® patients enjoy thicker, fuller skin and a more attractive, healthy appearance. Many people use Sculptra® as a less invasive and less expensive alternative to cosmetic surgery. Another benefit of a Sculptra® treatment is that the improvement can last up to two years, much longer than most other injectable products. In addition, while Sculptra® treatments can result in some tenderness, swelling, and redness in the treated area, the product is associated with fewer risks and side effects than other similar injectable treatments.

Bio-Alcamid
Dr. Sean Brian Rice is proud to be one of only two plastic cosmetic surgeons now offering Bio-Alcamid to patients in Toronto. This innovative cosmetic filler, which is approved for Canadian patients and widely used in Europe, provides solid structural support beneath the skin while restoring volume. Bio-Alcamid is a near-permanent product that has a long-lasting ability to reduce facial wrinkles.
Unlike other dermatological fillers, Bio-Alcamid is not absorbed by the body over time and can be removed if the treatment does not initially achieve ideal results. The product is made of a gel polymer that contains about 96 percent water and is easily administered by a small syringe into the targeted area of the body.
Bio-Alcamid is most commonly used to create a more youthful facial appearance by filling deep skin folds that appear along the nose and mouth and restoring volume and definition to the cheeks and jaw line. It is also widely used to effectively treat facial lipoatrophy, or “facial wasting,” the dramatic loss of facial fat and tissue that is commonly caused by AIDS and HIV medications and other rare diseases, such as Parry-Romberg Syndrome.

Fat Injections
In addition to offering a wide range of injectable fillers, Dr. Sean Brian Rice also performs fat injections. In a fat injection procedure, Dr. Rice uses the patient’s own unwanted fatty tissue removed from one part of the body, such as the abdomen or the hips, and places the tissue in an area of the body that is in need of some additional support and volume, such as the face and the buttocks. The result is two-fold: A shapelier, rounder, and firmer looking shape in one part of the body and a slimmer appearance in another, all achieved without the use of artificial fillers or other similar products.
